Founded in memory of one man's belief in the value of education, and grown, year by year, into the school it is today.
1999
Founded in memory of Solomon Kagira Mugo
Kagira Memorial Academy was founded in 1999 in memory of the late Mr Solomon Kagira Mugo. The school was established to honour his memory, and to help ensure that education continues to be valued in society, just as he valued it in his own life.
That founding purpose still shapes the school today: a place where learning is treated as something worth protecting and investing in, for every learner who passes through its gates.
A school that has grown
Since 1999, Kagira Memorial Academy describes its growth as significant — in its physical structures, in enrolment, in the levels of education it offers, and in its teaching and non-teaching staff. The school's own records show teaching staff growing from 2 to 22, and non-teaching staff growing from 2 to 10, alongside continued investment in its buildings and classrooms.
The school currently has approximately 600 learners enrolled. As with any school, enrolment changes from year to year.
Structural growth
Improved, modern structures
Alongside its academic milestones, Kagira Memorial Academy has continued to invest in improved and more modern structures — classrooms, laboratories, and boarding facilities built to keep pace with a growing school community.

Levels
Baby Class to Grade 9, two streams at every level
Every level at Kagira Memorial Academy is taught across two streams, or classes. Baby Class and Playgroup are the same level.
Lower Primary — Baby/Playgroup, PP1, PP2, Grade 1–3
Upper Primary — Grade 4–9

Welcome to Kagira Memorial Academy. Our school was founded in 1999 in memory of the late Mr Solomon Kagira Mugo, to honour his memory and to help ensure that education continues to be valued in society, just as he valued it.
Since then, we have grown steadily — in our classrooms, our staff, and the number of learners we are privileged to teach, from Baby Class all the way to Grade 9. Through all of that growth, our foundation has stayed the same: respect, discipline, godliness, hard work, and responsibility, taught alongside a learner-centred approach to academics.
I am proud of what our learners, teachers, and staff continue to build together here, and I warmly welcome you to be part of the Kagira Memorial Academy family.
