Who we are

A school built in memory, growing every year

Kagira Memorial Academy sits along the Thika–Ndakaini Highway, about 40 kilometres from Thika, in Gatanga Sub-County, Murang'a. It is a mixed day and boarding school offering learning from Playgroup all the way to Grade 9.

Every grade at Kagira Memorial Academy is organised into two streams, giving learners a settled, well-known classroom community as they move up through the school.

Our foundation

In memory of Solomon Kagira Mugo

Kagira Memorial Academy was founded in 1999 in memory of the late Mr Solomon Kagira Mugo. The school carries his name to honour his memory, and to help ensure that education continues to be valued in society, just as he valued it.

Since its founding, the school describes its growth as significant — across its structures, its enrolment, the levels it offers, and its teaching and support staff.
